Looking for the easiest and most affordable way to get around Oʻahu? Hop aboard TheBus, Honolulu’s public transportation system.

TheBus is Oʻahu’s public transportation system. With fares of $3 one-way, a $7.50 daily cap, a $20 three-day pass and a $35 seven-day pass, it’s the most affordable travel option.
Routes take you to popular spots like Diamond Head, Ala Moana and Downtown. You can even ride TheBus around the island, although it’s slow for hop-on hop-off exploring.
TheBus works best for direct trips, like heading to Kailua or Kualoa Ranch. Always check the schedule in advance to ensure return buses align with your plans.
While TheBus serves Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), it’s not recommended for arrivals due to baggage rules. Oversized bags and metal-frame backpacks are not allowed.
Riding TheBus is simple: wait at the correct stop, wave the bus down and pay the exact fare onboard (no change provided). Pull the cord to request your stop.
For easier navigation, visit thebus.org or call +1 (808) 848-5555. We also recommend downloading DaBus2, an app that uses GPS to give accurate bus arrival times across Oʻahu.
For added convenience, purchase a Holo Card. This reloadable smart card lets you tap to pay on TheBus and Skyline rail, with daily and monthly fare caps for savings.
You can pick up a HOLO Card at ABC Stores, Satellite City Halls, or online. It’s a simple, affordable way to ride public transportation around Honolulu and beyond.
