Pre-Book > Oahu Car Rental
Oahu is 44mi (71km) long and 30mi (48km) wide and has three major highways (H1, H2, H3). It’s relatively simple to navigate, as long as you’re comfortable driving on the right-hand side of the road.
You don’t need a car if you’re staying in Waikiki because everything is easily accessible on foot, by bicycle, bus, trolley, taxi or ride-share. However, renting a car can be a great way to explore the rest of the island.
Rental cars can be picked up and dropped off at the Consolidated Rental-A-Car (CONRAC) facility at Honolulu Airport. Alternatively, hire a set of wheels from a depot in Waikiki to take day trips around the island.
PLEASE NOTE: Hawaii is still feeling the after-effects of the pandemic, when tourism came to a standstill and rental car companies decided to ship inventory to the US mainland. This has left a residual short supply in the islands, so we suggest securing any car hire as early as possible.

Car-Sharing Programs
As an alternative to traditional rental car services, Honolulu’s urban center has two car-share options.
Turo on Oahu
Turo (Apple/Google) is a peer-to-peer car-sharing program, it’s like Airbnb but for cars.
Hui on Oahu
Hui (Apple/Google) is a round-trip, station-based car-sharing program for booking vehicles by the hour or day.
Parking in Waikiki
Parking in Waikiki is expensive at both hotels and local parking lots. Expect parking rates to run between $30-50 per vehicle per night. Many visitors choose to hire vehicles for one or two days only to take day trips around the island, rather than have a rental car on hand for their entire stay. Our Waikiki Properties come with free parking!
For temporary parking in Waikiki, major shopping malls including the Royal Hawaiian Center and International Market Place have large parking structures. Hourly parking at these centers are usually reasonably priced and can often be validated after onsite purchases are made or when dining on property. There is also per hour parking located at Honolulu Zoo and Fort De Russy.
Our Free Waikiki Map outlines the parking rates charged at Waikiki hotels.
